UMI expands its Injection Molding Machine assembly facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan

UBE Industries Ltd., (Ube City, Japan), the parent company, formed UBE Industries (America) Inc. in New York to sell and service UBE machinery, and to market, the company’s plastics, cement, and petrochemical products established its manufacturing and support facilities in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1978.  UBE Machinery Inc. has been keen to expand its product line up and increase sales since the launch of U-MHI Plates Co., Ltd in January 2017.

The expansion of the assembly facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan was scheduled to begin in January 2018 with the completion target date of September 2018. The expansion of the facility will double the annual capacity for assembling mid-large size injection molding machines, including the two Platen Servo Hydraulic, Servo Hydraulic Toggle, and All-Electric machines to meet the demand for mid-large size hydraulic servo injection molding machines, with a small footprint that are used to manufacture a broad range of parts primarily for U.S. based companies. With the increase in square foot capacity, UBE will solidify its position as the leading Japanese manufacturer of injection molding machines in North America. The company has been assembling and installing machinery up to 3300 tons in Ann Arbor, Michigan since 1996.
