Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has opened a new subsidiary on May 1, 2018, in the Italian market with plans to hire its tried-and-trusted employees who have worked with its former Italian associate, Macam Srl. The company also plans to hire additional personnel to cover sales, application technology, and after-sales service. Appointing Roberto Sallemi as manager of the subsidiary in Turin, Italy, the former owner and managing director of Macam Srl., Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, the company will be benefitted with his rich experience of working in the Italian market.
“We are investing in closeness to our customers, because we want to speed up our response times. Through this measure, we ensure fast-track communication and a direct connection to development, project planning and production in Germany”, said, Paolo Zirondoli, Director International Sales Sumitomo (SHI) Demag of Schwaig/Germany. “Our customers will benefit from our consultancy expertise in key segments such as medical engineering, packaging and automotive.”
According to Pietro Scattarreggia, Director Business Development Electronics & Medical of the manufacturer of injection moulding machinery manufacturer’s European headquarters, a future-oriented investment is needed to build a strong base in Italy by establishing a subsidiary.
Gerd Liebig, CEO, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, explained, “Over the last three years, we have managed to increase our market share by threefold. This is the result of intensive sales efforts. The new subsidiary is the next logical expansion step. We have thought long and hard about ways of improving our processes and customer satisfaction, and finally decided that we need to set up a strong base in Italy, which is rooted in traditional structures but also invests in future-oriented service concepts and intensive consultancy.”
