Sumitomo (SHI) Demag and Piovan Group collaborate to serve the Strategically Selected Market Segments together

Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, the German-Japanese moulding machinery manufacturer, and Piovan Group, Italy have agreed to collaborate to serve the strategically selected market segments together.

According to the agreement, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will offer a variety of Piovan downstream solutions from all product ranges. The sales outlets will provide machines and downstream equipment from one source and partners will offer strategically to important target segments such as the packaging industry and injection moulding applications.

The cooperation, starting in 2017, initially catered to European markets and then gradually stepped up to other global regions by selecting the items from the portfolio of Piovan that could suit the machine series of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. With their own sales and service structures, both the partners have been present in important global markets.

Gerd Liebig, CEO at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, pointed out, “The Piovan Group is the perfect partner because they offer a complete portfolio of downstream technology with a very high quality and performance level and a real global network.”

Filippo Zuppichin, Group Managing Director at Piovan, added, “With their core competencies, both manufacturers can support each other because their requirements in terms of technology, quality and performance are as identical as their strict focus on their customers.”

Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will showcase the downstream technology and Aquatech cooling systems of Piovan at the European technical canters to offer customers the complete portfolio if required. At Chinaplas in Shanghai and at the NPE in Orlando, USA several Sumitomo (SHI) Demag exhibits were already running with Piovan downstream equipment, which was selected to suit the relevant applications’ requirements. At Plast Milan, Piovan technology will be running on Sumitomo (SHI) Demag exhibits.
