RENOLIT GOR S.p.A. holds a leading position in the global market of automotive extrusion and thermoforming. The company is witnessing high demand for its RENOLIT TECNOGOR which is composed of 100 % recyclable glass fiber. Also, it’s safe and clean to be used for automotive interior applications. Many OEM automotive buyers find Tier 1 thermoformers attractive because they integrate superior part performance with consistent quality, higher productivity and lower costs of the production process.
The leading carmakers of Germany, Italy, France, and Japan are using RENOLIT TECNOGOR for a variety of thermoformed, custom coated and interior 3D trim parts for vehicles. Moreover, the applications are inclusive of parcel shelves, load floors, seat back covers, dashboard inserts and trunk trims.
RENOLIT TECNOGOR has well established itself as a versatile and performance oriented lightweight thermoplastic composite sheet and roll material solution. It enables automotive trim parts to be cost-effectively fabricated for a wide choice of interior finishes.
An added advantage of thermoformers using this PP/GF based substrate is that it can be easily shaped in a ‘glue free’ one-step-process. Also, it serves as a really safe material for usage on the shop floor in comparison to a glass fiber reinforcement fabric. This is attributed to the glass fibers in RENOLIT TECNOGOR which are completely embedded in the PP polymer matrix during extrusion. As a consequence of this, the molding is devoid of free-floating fibers in the air or exposed glass fibers and hence, produces finished trim parts with smooth surfaces and edges which are safe to handle.
Automotive interior design engineers avail of the outstanding mechanical properties of RENOLIT TECNOGOR. As per a published technical data sheet for the Type A grade, RENOLIT TECNOGOR is believed to have favourable Flexural Modulus, Charpy Impact Strength and Heat Deflection Temperature.
RENOLIT TECNOGOR’s stiffness and impact performance is attributed to the unique, patented, PP/GF composition and extrusion process used by its composites production lines in Italy.
Francesco Maffione, Sales Manager of Automotive Products for RENOLIT explains: “Our approach is to work closely with Tier 1 convertors and automotive OEMs, using our extensive knowledge and network to help customers to produce thermoformed parts at lower cost and higher productivity levels. We look for ways to achieve higher machine utilization, to eliminate process steps, reduce changeovers and shorten production cycle times.”
He further went on to say: “We also get involved in new product development projects, providing rapid technical support, which includes supplying test material produced on our in-house prototyping thermoforming line.”
The product range for RENOLIT TECNOGOR is available in different sheet thickness, width and length options. However, there is a standard range of colors i.e. black and grey while other colors are available on special request.
