Magna, a mobility technology company and one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, is instituting a new global automotive design competition for awarding ‘Global Bold Perspective Award’. Larry Erickson, global director of the Magna Exteriors Design Group, introduced the inaugural Global Bold Perspective Award at the Car Design News LA Forum during the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Magna Global Bold Perspective Award aims to generate innovating designs challenging the conventional designs. The design competition will showcase tomorrow’s vehicle designers’ vision of the future. Entries for the competition are called from students around the world. The award winner will be declared at 2019 Car Design News LA Forum during the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Erickson, said, “We are always looking ahead to understand how innovations in materials, surfaces and technology can influence future automotive design and help automakers achieve their design goals. Over the years, we’ve witnessed students generating designs with features and shapes that challenge conventional methods of styling and assembling automobiles. Creating a venue for them to share their future vision of where automotive exterior design could be headed, inspires us to be bolder in our innovations for our customers.”
The competitors for the Global Bold Perspective Award will be from North America, Europe, and China. Design winner from each region will receive a cash prize and a trip to the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. The top winner will be announced at the 2019 Car Design News LA Forum, who will receive an additional cash prize.
Chris Maillard, Car Design News Editor-in-Chief, commented, “Collaborating with Magna to collect futuristic designs from talented young designers around the world and provide a venue to showcase the very best is an exciting project for our publication.
