GE Appliances (GEA), located in Louisville, Ky, a Haier company, has decided to expand its dishwasher and laundry manufacturing facilities with an investment totaling more than $200 million. The expansion of its manufacturing facilities will create 400 new jobs in Louisville, Ky.
According to plans, GEA will invest in Appliance Park, its largest manufacturing facility and headquarters location in Louisville, in the current and next year. GEA wants to install an industry-leading new top load washer, completely new dryer platform and additional production capacity for existing models. The laundry production expansion will lead to increase manufacturing capacity by approximately 20 percent. The expansion of dishwasher production will enhance the plant’s production capabilities by 35 percent for new plastic and stainless-steel tub models.
Kevin Nolan, president and chief executive officer for GE Appliances, said, “The investments we are making today continue our mission of creating product and production supersites where we can more efficiently channel our innovation and manufacturing expertise by product line. This will greatly accelerate our ability to provide innovative new products that will delight consumers, expand our workforce and enhance our leadership in the major appliance industry.”
Matt Bevin, Governor, commented, “GE Appliances has long been an exemplary corporate partner for Louisville and the Commonwealth. This iconic company has employed many thousands of Kentuckians for generations, and we are grateful for their most recent investment in the Bluegrass State. As GE Appliances continues to adapt to a changing marketplace, we are confident that they will remain a perfect fit right here in Kentucky—America’s center for engineering and manufacturing excellence.”
GEA’s products range include refrigerators, freezers, cooking products, dishwashers, washers, dryers, air conditioners and water filtration systems.
