A. Schulman, Inc. lately declared that the European Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) has awarded it with the Grand Innovation Award in the 2016 Automotive Parts and Components competition of the industry organization.
A. Schulman got the first place in the Exterior Automotive Parts category. The award has also been given to the company for its Mercedes-Benz GLA’s skid plate design. Since it offered a molded silver metallic color material to Mercedes-Benz.
The R&D team of the company needed to create a material that featured perfect dispersion of metallic color. It came up with a material that eradicates optical effects like tiger stripes that are seen particularly during processing of large injection molded parts. The company could achieve this perfection owing to the correct material recipe, great manufacturing tools design, and supporting injection molding technology.
A third place award was given to the company for contributing to stationary charging box, which has been designed by Germany’s ABL. This box helps in electric vehicles and features great resilience to heat, chemicals, and weather.
Heinrich Lingnau, Senior Vice President, and General Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “At A. Schulman, we take great pride in helping our customers achieve success. While we are pleased to be recognized by the SPE, an organization we hold in high regard, it is the unwavering confidence our customers have in our ability to create the right solutions for them that truly validates our work for us.”
