Engel, the injection moulding machine manufacturer ENGEL headquartered in Schwertberg, Austria has been focusing on in-house professional apprenticeship training for long. Engel has now decided to open up two new apprentice workshops at the plants in St. Valentin and Dietach to offer appropriate training to interested young people from the Steyr and St. Valentin area by their own training team. Engel’s apprentice workshop at the headquarters in Schwertberg was conferred with a certificate of excellence from the government will be used as a model. The apprentice workshop in Schwertberg is one of the most advanced in the country with state-of-the-art machines, ergonomic work places and plenty of daylight.
Werner Wurm, head of the global apprentice training programme at ENGEL, said, “From September 2018, we will be taking on additional apprentices for the large-scale machine plant in St. Valentin and the production plant for robots and automation systems in Dietach. Many from this area are interested in apprenticeships but did not go due to long round 60 new apprentices will start their technical training at ENGEL AUSTRIA. The company has been imparting training to young men and women in Austria for many years to become professionals. There are currently 180 apprentices”.
ENGEL also offers professional training abroad to create availability of sufficient supply of skilled workers. At its plants in China, Czech Republic, and Germany, apprentices are trained according to the Austrian model.
During the training, apprentices get an insight into adjoining departments and have an opportunity to work in international teams at an early stage. The apprentices at ENGEL are imparted on-the-job training by involving them in ongoing production from the very beginning
