In order to cope up with the rising demand in all regions, Covestro has decided to significantly increase its global film production at four locations in at Map Ta Phut, Thailand, Guangzhou, China, South Deerfield, USA, and Dormagen, Germany.
The company has plans to invest more than 100 million euros, which will also include the expansion of the associated infrastructure and logistics. Automotive, medical technology and security card industries are some of the sectors using the high-quality semi-finished products of Covestro.

Based on modern coextrusion technology, Covestro’s new production facilities in Map Ta Phut in Thailand is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2019. The facility at the Guangzhou site in China is being built in two phases. The first phase production facility will be ready in the middle of 2019, followed by expansion of the capacity in the second phase. Steps to increase the efficiency and quality are under progress in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. Dormagen, Germany will have a new coextrusion line by the fourth quarter of 2020. In addition, a new production line for high-quality, multilayer flat films, including infrastructure and logistics facilities is constructed there.
