Borealis celebrated the opening of an EUR 15 million investment project in mtm plastics GmbH. Located in Niedergebra mixed, Germany, mtm plastics GmbH is an acknowledged technology leader in the field of recycling of post-consumer plastic waste.
The company is one of Europe’s largest producers of post-consumer polyolefin recyclates. Borealis has also planned to make an additional investment of 2.5 million euros during the year in environmental protection and capacity expansion of mtm compact, a sister company in Fürstenwalde. The mtm plastics GmbH and mtm compact GmbH are part of Borealis after their take over in July 2016.
The new investments will enable to increase the overall processing capacity from 60kt to 80 Kt as well as a partial expansion of the existing equipment to meet the needs of the high-end market of re-granulates.

We need stepwise expansion projects to minimize down time, but also need to maintain existing facilities and business.”
