Albis Plastic, one of the leading globally operating companies in the distribution and compounding of technical thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers, has newly developed ALCOM MS “Anti Squeak” especially for customers in the automotive and consumer electronics industries. Providing improved “stick-slip” behavior, it’s ABS-, PC-, or PC+-based component materials reduce the risk of unwanted noise when coming into contact with other casing materials. The newly developed material prevents the creaking and cracking noises that consumers associate with lower product quality in day-to-day use.
ALCOM MS “Anti Squeak” has number of potential areas of application ranging from plastic components and housings in truck interiors to consumer electronics casings. ALCOM MS can be used anywhere that involves components being inserted, clipped, or screwed together, where even the smallest relative motion between connected plastic parts could create noise.
Eric Fautz, Product Specialist – Business Line Specialties, said, “Consumers base their impressions of product quality on not only haptic and visual assessments, but on acoustic ones as well. Using the ALCOM MS ‘Anti Squeak’ eliminates bothersome noise, which has a lasting positive effect on end customers’ usage experience.”
The newly developed materials produced good results even under adverse testing conditions of the Ziegler test. There were no significant effects on the mechanical and rheological properties of the new material. All materials have been found suitable for lacquerability and low emissions for vehicle interiors.
Albis Plastic offers the plastic processing industry a diverse product range of high-performance plastics, compound solutions, and masterbatches. The company, based in Hamburg, has 23 subsidiaries worldwide and is strongly represented in Europe with a growing presence in North Africa, the Asia Pacific and the Americas. In 2017, the ALBIS Group had sales of 1.017 million euros.
