A. Schulman introduces new halogen-free PE flame retardant for enhancing safety in Rotomolding Applications

Icorene 9106A. Schulman, a leading international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds, composites, and resins, is expanding its polyethylene based range of specialty powders with Icorene 9106.

Fully compliant with the flame retardant standard UL94 V-0, Icorene  9106  helps in reducing the fire danger and reducing the speed of flame spread. Molder and the end user have greater safety in the use of Icorene  9106, as it is halogen-free.

The rare rotomolding grade available in the market, Icorene  9106, meets both the requirements of reducing the fire danger as well as reducing the speed of flame spread. Like conventional halogenated grades, the material also offers a wide processing window and provides the same characteristics, properties and UL94 V-0 FR performance. The material meets the stringent criteria with regards to after flame and afterglow time to make it conform to UL94 V0 grade.

Presently, Icorene 9106 is available in off-white color. Other colors are under evaluation for certification.
